In 2019, for the 4th year running, Mainetec has supported local suicide prevention charity Run for MI Life. This organisation was started in 2013 by local barber and Mum Jo-Ann Shanks, who lost her brother Matthew to suicide in 2012. Since it was started, Run for MI Life has raised over $480,000, donating these funds to support free suicide prevention training and other good mental health and wellness initiatives, in the Mackay, Moranbah and Brisbane regions. Vicky Bowden, Mainetec’s CFO, is a director of Run for MI Life having been involved with the charity since 2014, and currently holds the committee position of sponsorship and grants coordinator.
