Saddle Block Refurbishment – 4100XPC Electric Shovel

In May 2017 Mainetec completed a full refurbishment of a set of 4100XPC saddle blocks.

Innovation

Our challenge was to redesign the structure of the saddle blocks whilst maintaining overall geometry and reducing the highly stressed areas that had previously led to failure.   By upgrading the design to address these problematic areas Mainetec were able to deliver a refurbishment that will reduce ongoing maintenance costs in field repairs.  The completed refurbishment included the supply of upgraded bushes.

Timeframe and Outcomes

The refurbishment was turned around in 12 weeks from initial strip and clean and delivery.  The job quality exceeded customer expectations.  Mainetec were able to offer design options, fabrication, machining and parts, backed with a comprehensive MDR.
